| Greater Edmonton Lacrosse Council – Tyke/Novice Two Line Rule 2007.
In Edmonton the GELC has adopted the 2-line rule.
Here is the interpretation of the two-line rule the referees will be using:
A player is not allowed to carry the ball across the two blue lines (hockey lines).
- Bouncing the ball and catching it by the same player does not constitute a pass.
- Bouncing the ball off the boards and catching it by the same player does not constitute a pass.
The referee will signal in the air with hand held at approximately a 60-degree angle holding up two fingers in a “V” configuration to signify that the player must pass the ball before crossing the second blue line. The referee will attempt to communicate to the player to “pass the ball” or “two lines” before blowing the whistle. Upon blowing the whistle for a two-line infraction, possession will go to the non-offending team.
Exception:
If the player who gets possession of the ball has no other players (Home or Visiting Team Players) beside themselves and no player between the player and the goal the player may run down directly to the goal and shoot.
